Withdrawal/Resignation Checklist -Progress to Degree/Academic Impacts

Progress to Degree:

  • Dropping a class or all classes could delay your timeline to complete your degree.
  • Be considerate of classes that are prerequisites for the upcoming term.

Academics

  • Eligibility to remain in your desired academic program (major)
  • Restrictions based on repeats, linked classes, and prerequisite/co-requisite classes

 Important questions to ask:

  • Is this a required class for my major and/or minor? 
  • Is my potential grade in this class going to negatively affect my overall GPA? 
  • Will dropping this class allow me to perform better in my other classes? 
  • If this course is prerequisite, does it affect my planned schedule for next semester? 
  • Does this impact my academic standing? Potential semester honors (dean's list/president's list requirements)?
