Transfer Credit Policy

General Policy:

Transfer Institution Accreditation:

The University of Louisiana at Lafayette is regionally accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). As such, the University abides by the SACSCOC Transfer of Academic Credit guidelines and The Quality and Integrity of Educational Credentials policy .

The University will accept college-level credit transferred from regionally accredited institutions. If you are transferring college level credit from non-regionally accredited institutions, credit may be awarded based on University policy and recommendations contained in the current issue of Transfer Credit Practices of Selected Educational Institutions, published by the American Associate of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions officers.

Transferability:

All college-level credit from a regionally accredited institution is transferable to the University. Transferable credit is evaluated for course equivalency, not degree applicability.

Degree Applicability:

Degree applicability is how your transferred course applies to the completion of your degree. The college where your major resides will determine your transferred course degree applicability.

Equivalency Types:

  • Direct Equivalency
    • Your transfer course is equivalent to a specific UL Lafayette course and is assigned the corresponding UL Lafayette course subject and number.
      • ENGL 1010 Rhetoric and Composition = ENGL 101 English Composition I
  • Elective Equivalency
    • Discipline Specific - Your transfer course does not have a direct equivalency, but UL Lafayette offers an equivalent discipline. The course equivalency assigned is the course subject within the discipline and a number identifying the level of the course followed by xx.
      • ENG 216 Persuasive Writing on Public Issues = ENGL 2xx Persuasive Writing on Public Issues
    • General Elective - Your transfer course does not have a direct equivalency and UL Lafayette does not offer an equivalent discipline. The course equivalency assigned is the course subject ELEC and a number identifying the level of the course followed by xx.
