Time Status Designations

A student’s time status is determined by the number of hours they are registered for each semester. This status is used in a variety of ways including eligibility for funding through Financial Aid, international student visa compliance, and enrollment reporting, among other things. Time status designations are broken down by Full-Time and Part-Time, undergraduate and graduate, and term/semester.

Please note that time status is determined differently by the Office of Student Financial Aid. For questions relating to how time status affects financial aid, please contact the Office of Student Financial Aid.

For non-funding purposes, the following hours determine time status:

Undergraduate Students

Half Time 6-8 hours  6-8 hours 3 hours
